Keeping your rabbit happy is simple and easy when you make his cage comfortable to live in. Every rabbit owner needs to have the following list of items to make a rabbit’s stay comfortable in the cage. These items are designed to keep your rabbit’s cage cleaner and neater, which will also help to keep your rabbit healthier in addition to being happier. If you are considering adopting a rabbit, it is important to pick up these items before you get your rabbit. If you currently have a rabbit, it is a good idea to make sure that you have all of the items for your rabbit:
- Potty area. Always keep a litter box in your rabbit’s cage to help keep the waste in one easy-to-clean spot. Training your rabbit to use the litter box is easy and helps to keep their waste out of their food, toys and sleeping area. Try using a litter box like the Long John High Side Litter Pan to help keep the waste contained in one area. It has a low front to make it easy for your rabbit to hop into. Don’t forget to fill the litter box with small animal litter. This will help to absorb liquid waste and more.
- Feeding area. Rabbits need a constant source of fresh water and the best way to offer your rabbit fresh water is to put a water bottle in the cage. In addition to a water bottle, pick a chew-proof crock to put your rabbit’s food pellets and treats inside and hang a hayrack up to keep your rabbit’s hay off of the cage floor.
- Sleeping area. Place a nest box with bedding, like Night E Night Fluff Small Animal Bedding, inside of the cage to make sleeping more comfortable for your rabbit. If your cage or hutch as a wire floor, it is a good idea to place a grass mat over the wire floor to make it more comfortable for your rabbit.
